NorthCatch ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and username to authenticate your access.

Catch Data: Information you voluntarily provide when logging catches, including species, weight, length, photos, location coordinates, and notes.

Location Data: With your permission, we collect location data to provide weather conditions, solunar forecasts, and to tag catch locations. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings.

Photos: Photos you take or select within the app are stored with your catch records. We do not access your photo library beyond the images you explicitly select.

Usage Data: We may collect anonymized usage statistics to improve the app experience.

How We Use Your Information

To provide and maintain the NorthCatch service
To display weather conditions and fishing forecasts for your location
To enable social features (sharing catches, connecting with friends)
To power AI features (species identification, trip planning) for Pro subscribers
To improve the app and fix bugs

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure servers. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

Third-Party Services

OpenAI: AI features (species ID, trip planning) send relevant data to OpenAI's API for processing. No personal identifying information is shared.
SendGrid: Used for transactional emails (password resets). Only your email address is shared.
Weather APIs: Your coordinates (not identity) are sent to weather services to provide local conditions.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Catch data you share publicly (via the social feed) is visible to other NorthCatch users.

Children's Privacy

NorthCatch is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.
